Sole Proprietor Online Business Owners: How did you decide what business to start, or what product to sell?

Author: I have such widely varied interests, am having a hard time narrowing myself down to one product! I’m wondering if you had difficulty deciding on which business to start, and if so, how did you overcome that hurdle?
Ideally, at this point in my career I’d like to start focusing on something online that requires creativity AND operations/ technical knowledge and skills, from our home. Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I was making one thing, needed a product to make it, found a whack of the stuff for free and started selling it instead.
In your case, research each one of your interests to see how much is selling, whether it’s selling for prices that you can make a profit at, then decide on the best 2 or 3 items to start.
You can always add some others later.

More and more people are looking to join the on-line work from home businesses where they can enjoy tax benefits, flexible hours and the freedom of being their own boss while earning a residual income.
Not only is it a lifestyle and source of financial freedom, people are enjoying the added benefit of being able to be around their family more than if they were out "at" a job, something that is once again becoming important to society even though we all need that second income while raising our children.
If this is something that you’re looking into, then start figuring out what the current market trend is and find something in that trend that excites you….something you’d really enjoy doing and start researching companies from there. Be very careful here to pick something that has repeat usage, is at the front of the trend and has a growing market to supply. Don’t get into the "fad" things that peter out in a year or two unless you can corner that market.
Of course, you want to beware of that "get rich quick" and "pay us this amount of money and we’ll show you how" sort of thing. Run Forest run! You know that’s gotta be a bad deal.
Of the companies that appear to be legitimate, check out what they’re offering you and if that fits what you want, and if it does, then look even harder – inside and out – at that company. Find out what kind of training and ongoing support they’ll offer you as well as that can be such a crucial point to your success.
Once you’re satisfied that everything is above board, then go for it! The trend is swinging very quickly to on-line home based businesses and it can be very lucrative as well as rewarding.
