I recently moved to a new area and have started an errand running business. I have posted flyers in local businesses and put an ad in the local newspaper for the past few weeks. I havn’t recieved one phone call yet though.

I have heard that the best form of advertisement is word of mouth, but how do I get recommendations if I dont have customers who can tell others about my business? I don’t have family or friends in the area either since I just moved. Any ideas?

Here are a few ideas that might help you.

1. Have a decal on your rear window with your business information. (It works really well. I have done that and I received a lot of customers from it)

2. A simple t-shirt with your business information. (wear it when you go shopping and run your errands and people will notice you)

3. You said its a errand running business. You can try to contact your intended customers. (example elderly = nursing homes)
Place fliers and try to talk face to face with people there or wherever your targeted customers are at.
